Round 1 Results!

The transformation has been incredible! Seriously, I have always been one to judge from afar, thinking that this stuff is a joke and saying that the person in the after photo is not the same person...you know you've done it. I stand corrected...although I still have a ways to go the results that I have received in 3 weeks are incredible! 13.25 inches and 14 lbs! I am sold and am a walking billboard for Shakeology and 21 Day Fix. I plan on doing a couple more rounds before I move to my next adventure, I want to make sure I build up my stamina and muscle strength...also want to lean up some more before I start to add muscle mass.

So what did it take to get these results in 3 weeks? Well sticking to the meal plan was probably the most important, and hardest part of this. Now this wasn't difficult because of the food, because the food I've been eating is beyond delicious, it was difficult because of the awful habits I have created over time. Breaking habits is not an easy feat, but I feel good about accomplishing my short term goals and giving up those habits. Creativity with meals was another key. Trying new and exciting recipes while sticking with the meal plan was not much of a challenge but it's easy to be lazy and just chop up some greens and call it a day...sounds boring right? Well that's because it is...this program allows you to dabble in the culinary field and be creative with your meals...recipes to follow ;). Finally, Shakeology...seriously this stuff is amazing and delicious! I substitute my breakfast for Shakeology every morning following my workout. It keeps me full and provides me with the energy and metabolic boost I need to get my day started right...freaking love this stuff! My preferred Shakeology recipe is very simple: 1 Scoop of Chocolate Shakeology, 3 Teaspoons of Peanut Butter, 9oz of water and ice...then blend that sucker and enjoy. Anyways this is a short post today, just wanted to let you guys know how my progress is going and remember if you have any questions or are interested visit my Beachbody Site and contact me with any questions :)

Baked Potato/Cauliflower Soup 21 Day Fixed Approved!

Baked Potato/Cauliflower Soup
21 Day Fixed Approved!

For food in a world where many walk in hunger;
For faith in a world where many walk in fear;
For friends in a world where many walk alone;
We give thanks to you, O Lord.

So I can't really take credit for this recipe as my wife is the one who put it together, on the plus side however, she can no longer use the excuse that she's not that good at cooking. Rest assured she will be cooking a lot more after this masterpiece, lol!

Here is what you will need to put this all together:
SERVING SIZE (2)

  • 1 Baked Potato
  • 2 Green Containers of Chopped Cauliflower Steamed
  • 1 Cup of low fat milk
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 red container of Nonfat Greek Yogurt
  • 4 strips of Turkey Bacon (extra crispy)
  • 1 Green Onion Chopped
  • 1 Blue container of Shredded Cheese
Prep:

  1. If you are pressed for time you can microwave to the potato until fork tender OR for a little added flavor you can throw the sucker on the grill.
  2. Once you chop that delicious cauliflower you can either microwave until it is super tender
  3. Time to Crispify and crumble that BACON!!! (Yep I make up my own words, that's how I roll). So pretty simple here, grab 2 pieces of paper towel, lay bacon atop one and place second atop the BACON!!! OR you can use a BACON!!! tray if you have one. Once cooked crumble the BACON!!! and you are done with your prep work...congratulations! (BACON!!! always gets caps and exclamation points for awesomeness).
Let's make some Food:

  1. Add the cauliflower, Greek yogurt, milk water, and 1/2 of the baked potato to a blender and blend that baby until smooth.
  2. Pour the soup/mixture into a small saucepan and cook under low heat until you have reached desired temperature...remember to stir occasionally.
  3. Remember the other half of the baked potato? Good, because you're gonna need it, like now! Take the 1/2 of the potato and cut it up into chunks and add to soup, this adds a little texture to the soup and puts it over the top!
  4. Add Pepper to taste and a Pinch of Salt
  5. Finally garnish with with crumbled BACON!!!, green onions, and shredded cheese.

Well that about does it, hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we have, OH! and I have included below what servings you should mark off for the 21 Day Fix...Good Luck and many Blessings!

21 Day Fix Servings: 1 Red, 1 Yellow, 1 Green, and 1 Blue

So begins my journey...

      I guess I should start with an introduction, right? That's usually how these things work, and me being a "rookie" to all this blogger stuff...well, it's probably where I should start. Here goes, my name is Alex Rodriguez, I am a Beachbody coach, a pretty awesome Husband (right honey?), a faithful Christian, and a bunch of other stuff that you will learn with time. Hoping that bit didn't sound to AA'ish. Anyways, now that you know a little more about me I shall give you what you want! A blog post! One of which you have never seen the likes of before, a blog post to rule all others...yadaa, yadda, yadda. So at this point you are probably asking yourself what's this blog all about, or why wont this guy stop rambling...well first off I ramble a lot, get used to it and secondly this blog is about a journey. Not just my journey but my wife's also. We have both begun our journey with Beachbody, a healthier lifestyle, and continue our journey with Christ. So what can you hope to gain from this blog, you ask? Well, I will be posting about our progress, fun and delicious recipes, motivational posts, how to get over that hump and how to get started, overall experiences with different programs, and how Christ ties in with all of that. I hope to help you in your journey by letting you into mine, I wish to inspire you if you have not already made the change, and I pray to help you build a relationship with Christ through fitness.After all 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says: Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your bodyBecoming a Beachbody coach is more than just a hobby and a way to earn income...it's so much more, I am in this to not only change my life but help you change yours.

            So now that the intro is all out of the way I can start getting into the nitty-gritty, the meat and potatoes if you will of why I chose this lifestyle, why I chose to make this change at 29, why I joined Beachbody as a coach and how does this all relate to being a Christian? Well, its all kind of simple and a little cliche. As I near 30 years old and as I was continuing to gain weight I had a moment, a stark realization that the path I was walking has already been walked by family members before me. This moment came while I was watching this amazing video of Arthur Boorman, a disabled Gulf War Veteran who defied all odds and lost 100 lbs and was able to walk and run on his own again. This video brought me to tears and gave me the kick in the butt that I needed to get started. I looked at  Lindsay's and my family trees when I got home that night and all I saw is early deaths, heart disease, obesity, cancer, asthma, and diabetes...a laundry list of conditions and diseases. It's easy to see why anyone would want to change. I decided enough was enough, this trend has to end, and it has to end with me and my wife and I. Numbers 14:18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation’. I will not allow my children to suffer Lindsay's (my wife's name if you haven't figure it out yet, lol) and my families generational curses. After I came to my wife with this and shared my moment we both prayed about it and behold, a solution was provided! One of our church members is a Beachbody coach and contacted us out of the blue, she explained to us how the programs work and her personal success story. Well, we did not hesitate, after some research we knew this was the opportunity were waiting for. Now 2 weeks into the 21 Day Fix Challenge program and I am down 12 lbs and my wife is down 8 lbs. Small success story thus far, but every success story or dream has a beginning and this is ours. I look forward to share our journey, please feel free to message me if you wish to share yours with me.
